Legacy – The History of Jukebox Shop
The Jukebox Shop story began in 1964, when John Crompton started as a jukebox engineer with Ditchburn Music Co., working on Simplex, Tonomat, Seeburg, and Wurlitzer machines of the 1950s and '60s.
By 1970, John had established his own company, supplying coin-operated machines to pubs and clubs across the Midlands. As older jukeboxes were replaced, he saw growing interest in these now ‘obsolete’ machines, leading him to begin restoring and supplying them to early collectors and dealers.
From those beginnings, Jukebox Shop became what it is today—a highly respected name in the world of classic American jukebox restoration.
Why Our Restoration Process Stands Out
Because we started as an operating company, we understand jukeboxes as more than just decorative items—they are made to play music reliably. That’s why every machine we restore is done to the highest standards, ensuring it is both functional and visually stunning.
Your Restoration, Your Way
We recognise that jukeboxes have lived a life, often bearing original decals, cabinet marks, cigarette burns, or even graffiti. Some owners prefer to preserve these features as part of their history, while others want a fully factory-fresh restoration. We offer both—tailoring each restoration to your preferences.
50+ Years of Expertise, 30+ Years Restoring Classics
Whether you’re a seasoned collector or buying your first jukebox, we’re here to offer expert advice and help you make the right decision. We do not buy in pre-restored machines—we restore them ourselves, ensuring the highest quality.
